Honeycense - Incense & Honey

The aim of honeycense is to highlight and allow the appreciation of two of mother earth's great sensory gifts of taste & smell. Both honey and incense were an important commodity throughout the ancient civilised world. Assyria, Babylon, Egypt, India, Persia, Greece and Rome all made extensive reference to both honey and incense in their art and literature.

The bees will collect nectar from local flowers and convert it to honey "a delightful sticky fluid" and store it in wax comb cells. It can excite taste buds into a frenzy not unlike the activity in a hive on a warm summer's day. When properly stored it is immortal, "The contents of a sealed honey pot in an ancient Egyptian tomb was proved to be completely edible" (Evans 1989). Honey and its health benefits are renowned worldwide.
